Preheat the oven to 400°F and spray a 12-cup muffin pan with nonstick spray.

Heat ½ tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat if using lean meat. Add ground beef and break into crumbles as it browns.

Drain excess grease, then stir in taco seasoning and salsa. Remove from heat and set aside.

Place two wonton wrappers overlapping at angles into each muffin cup to form cups. If using larger wrappers, one wrapper may suffice to cover each cup.

Scoop approximately 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture into each wonton cup.

Bake uncovered for 10 minutes until wonton wrappers are toasted and lightly browned.

Immediately top each cup with shredded cheese to melt, then garnish with optional toppings of your choice.
