03 - 2 oz shredded 2% milk Mozzarella cheese

→ Pantry

04 - 1 teaspoon olive oil
05 - ¼ teaspoon salt
06 - ¼ teaspoon black pepper
07 - 1 cup barbecue sauce (Stubbs Original recommended)
08 - 1 (13.8 oz) can Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust dough

→ Condiments

09 - 1 large egg
10 - 1 tablespoon water

# Step-by-Step Instructions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 375°F. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced red onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened, stirring occasionally.
02 - Add shredded chicken, salt, pepper, and barbecue sauce to the skillet. Stir thoroughly and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
03 - Unroll pizza dough onto parchment paper atop a cutting surface. Roll into a 10” by 14” rectangle. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut 3-inch long strips spaced 1 inch apart along both long edges, stopping in the center.
04 - Spread chicken mixture evenly down the center of the dough rectangle. Sprinkle shredded Mozzarella atop the filling. Fold dough strips diagonally over the center alternately from each side, creating a braid pattern.
05 - Beat the egg with water in a small bowl. Brush the egg wash over the braided dough surface evenly using a pastry brush.
06 - Transfer the parchment paper with the braid onto a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-24 minutes until the dough is golden brown.
07 - Remove from oven and slice braid into 12 equal pieces. Serve warm, with a recommended portion of two pieces per serving.
